Brown-breasted Flycatcher
Migratory Birds (Species-3)
When I started to visit Rabindra Sarobar (RS) Lake, I had very little idea about the flycatchers found in that ‘biodiversity park’! But very soon it became clear to me that, this place is one of the favourites among the flycatchers species. Within the city limit of Kolkata, you would not find any other place where so many different types of flycatchers can be found!
The Brown-breasted flycatcher is the second of those 8 types of flycatchers that I’ve been able to spot till now in the RS lake. I first observed this species on 24.09.2020 and then again on 28th September and also in October. There was only one. But during the ‘return migration’, as many birders call it, in the month of March-2021, I found at least three of them.
